A J.C.S.P. initiative to the Burren Outdoor Education Centre in May has been organised for 3rd year students who will experience rock climbing on the limestone outcrops of the Burren and explore some of the underground caves in the area.
In the last term senior students will visit the Killaloe Outdoor Education Centre where they will take part in 2 land- based activities and 2 water-based activities during the day. This outing in included in our collaborative sports programme with U.L.
The activity days in U.L. for 2nd and 3rd year students are proving very successful. They are organised each year as part of our sports programme with the university. Students had the opportunity to learn about the sport of rowing and experience the indoor simulated rowing pool at the boat house, the only one of its kind in Limerick. Wall climbing in the indoor facility, a structured visit to use the gym equipment with the help of the gym staff, fun with the Spongy Polo game in the Arena and laughs on the giant inflatable obstacle in the 50m pool ensured an active and enjoyable experience for all.
The 5th and 6th year students enjoyed a course in Archery as part of our U.L. Sports programme. Many thanks to Matt from the Killaloe outdoor Education Centre for tutoring the students who thoroughly enjoyed what for many was a new experience.
For the first time Handball was included in the junior P.E. curriculum with the help of the development officers from the G.A.A. The students responded with enthusiasm to this new sport and their talent, co-operation and excellent behaviour were commended by the G.A.A. team.25 of the students have been picked to compete in a schools handball competition at St. Clements in May. Special thanks to Ger, Donnie, Gavin and Pat for sharing their expertise and time with our students. We appreciate it
Our yr. 1, 2 and U16 boys basketball squads acquitted themselves very well both on and off the court in the S.W. schools competition this season. The players are enthusiastic and display great potential for the future - well done.
St. Endas hosted a girls tournament in November. Teams from St. Michaels, Cappamore and St. Marys secondary school in Corbally competed with our Cadette squad in the one day event. We need more girls to join the Basketball club so come on girls ' get active! '
As part of their LCVP studies, the fifth year students are organising a soccer tournament.
This event will take place in Fulflex on Friday May 13th. Three other schools will be invited to partake in this event. The LCVP students are proving to be good entrepreneurs by demonstrating their excellent planning, organising and communication skills.
